Honour for Coir Board chief

Mr A.C. Jose, Chairman, Coir Board, has been elected Chairman of Inter Governmental Group of Hard Fibres, FAO. The election was held at the joint meeting of the IGG which was held in Rome on February 1.

Mr Jose represented Indian coir sector at the joint meeting of the IGG on Hard Fibres at Rome and has the unique honour of being the first Indian to hold this coveted post, a press statement issued from Coir Board said.

IGG on Hard Fibres has targeted to spend $2.5 billion for the growth of world coir sector which has tremendous growth potential. Apart from India, coir-producing countries, such as Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, stand to gain immensely by this allocation by implementing of products, which aim to spur its value added growth.
