Hyderabad Feb. 2 The Vision Summit-2007 being hosted by the Indian semiconductor Association (ISA) in Hyderabad on February 5-6 would host a concurrent IT secretaries' conclave, and release a study on global competitiveness of India from a design perspective.

Addressing a press conference here today, the President of ISA, Ms Poornima Shenoy, said that the summit would have over 250 participants and the report prepared by ISA and Ernst &Young India on the competitiveness of Indian design houses would be released on February 6.

Rated High

Referring to the strides made by the industry, she said the Indian semiconductor design work has been rated very high and this complements well with the industry and the Government effort to develop support manufacturing base.

While the Government had given in-principle nod for the semiconductor policy and make it competitive with countries like Taiwan, which have grown with the support of the Government, she said that a policy framework would be announced during the budget.

The IT secretaries' conclave would be attended by representatives from five States (TN, WB, Karnataka, AP and Kerala), who have the potential to play a larger role in the growth of the semiconductor industry in the country.
