Hyderabad Feb. 2 Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, has said that the guidelines on the schemes sponsored by the Centre would be reviewed when the next Plan begins on April 1.

Mr Ahluwalia, who took part in the review of the National Employment Guarantee Scheme in Andhra Pradesh here on Friday, said review of guidelines was important to increase flexibility and convergence of different programmes from the village level.

Mr Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Rajya Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh, and Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the Chief Minister, also participated in the discussion on various issues related to the job guarantee scheme with the District Collectors.

The meeting was organised to mark the first anniversary of the scheme.

Both Mr Ahluwalia and Mr Jairam Ramesh were impressed by the implementation of the scheme in Andhra Pradesh. They wanted other States to emulate the Andhra Pradesh example.
