Bangalore Feb. 2 India continued to be the fastest growing market for IBM in 2006, where the company clocked a 37 per cent year-on-year growth driven by a strong momentum in its server, storage, software and services business. But, the company did not disclose its revenues for India in absolute numbers.

Mr Shankar Annaswamy, Regional General Manager of IBM India/South Asia, said the company has grown more than twice the market in India in the past four years. While IBM continued to grow at over 30 per cent year-on-year, the Indian market has grown by 14-15 per cent, Mr Annaswamy said, adding that the company was also the largest MNC IT exporter.

IBM's India headcount grew 38 per cent from 38,500 in 2005 to 53,000 as on January 1, 2007, thus making it the largest IT multinational in the country.

Further, in 2007, IBM will continue to enhance its partnerships with the government on e-governance and other projects to bridge digital divide.
