Alliances & Joint Ventures Davies Turner names Cargoplan as partner for freight services Our Bureau
Davies Turner's existing agency arrangement with AFL for airfreight shipments between the UK and India, however, remains unchanged.
Wide range
Freight Links International, according to informed sources, has already invested around $1 million in its Indian operations and its subsidiary Cargoplan International, through its offices in Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai, already offers a wide range of freight forwarding and logistics services in the country, along with trucking, warehousing and distribution, achieving rapid growth in business. Davies Turner already handles (export) containers between the UK and various Indian ports such as Mumbai, Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal of the Jawaharalal Nehru port, Kolkata, Chennai, Tuticorin, Kochi and even inland destinations such as Bangalore and Delhi, by way of cargo aggregation through its network of depots around the UK and Ireland and (import) containers between Mumbai and the UK. Full load container services are available to and from India and the company uses the Indian Railways' extensive container transportation network. Cargoplan International henceforth will be the partner of the UK-based company in undertaking all these operations. While the Indian ports suffer from lack of adequate infrastructure, it is also felt that almost all major shipping lines of the world now offer services to and from India with sailing frequencies at par with those in the rest of Asia.
