Tata Indicom unveils e-store

Leveraging the power of Net retailing, Tata Indicom recently unveiled its online store — www.ichose.in — for post-paid mobile connections.

Claiming the new initiative to be the first of its kind for mobile connections, the company says the e-store is accessible from over 400 cities and would empower consumers to make an "informed and well-researched choice" from a wide range of Tata Indicom handsets, tariff plans and value-added services.

Commenting on the launch of the e-store, Mr Darryl Green, CEO - Tata Teleservices Ltd, said, "We want to take the lead by being the first service provider to introduce an online retail channel and offer our customers the convenience of buying mobile connections at the click of a mouse. With the introduction of `i-choose', we hope to break away from the current clutter of mobile offers and empower our customers to make an informed decision."

According to him, the e-store is designed to offer an easy navigation even for a first-timer Internet user. Elaborating on the service, Mr Abdul Khan, Vice-President, Marketing, Tata Teleservices, said the e-store is now available across 18 of 20 circles the company operates in.

The remaining two circles — Mumbai and the Rest of Maharashtra — will be linked before the end of this month. "We also plan to include landlines and pre-paid services in the e-store," he said.

Asked how long would that take to deliver the handset with activated connection to the consumer, Mr Khan said, "It comes with an upfront commitment of free delivery and activation within three working days."

The billing platform has been secured to ensure utmost protection and secrecy of all customers' shopping transactions, he added.

A new advertising campaign is also set to break out soon on Internet and print media. FCB-Ulka is handling the brand's ad account.
