Our Bureau

New Delhi , Dec. 19

Sahara Computers and Electronics Ltd (SCEL), which entered the Indian market in 2005, will set up two manufacturing facilities in Roorkee and Noida with a capacity to manufacture 3,000 and 2,000 units of computer products respectively per day. The company currently has a manufacturing plant in Noida with a capacity of 1,000 units per day. While SCEL expects the Roorkee plant to be operational by mid 2007, it expects the Noida plant to commence by the end of next year.

"Our upcoming plant at Roorkee is about 1. 2 lakh sq. ft. area. The investment in the Roorkee plant has been divided into three phases. In first phase we will spend Rs 70 crore, the second phase we will spend another Rs 80 crore and the expenditure in the third phase would depend on the excise duties. If excise duties are favourable for us , then our expenditure could be Rs 100 crore ," said Mr George Van Der Merwe, COO, SCEL.
