Flexi jobs now for women

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Dec. 12

Bangalore has 15,000-18,000 women managers who are ready for flexi jobs or part-time jobs.

A dipstick study by Avtar Career Creators, a Chennai-based recruitment firm, reveals that women in the IT city are ready to take on interim jobs. The various options available to them who have been out of mainstream career paths and now want to make a comeback are: flexi-working, part-timing, job sharing and term-time working.

Term-time working

"Term-time working is a new concept that allows women to work on days when children are at school and take time off during weekends and summer holidays," said Ms Saundarya Rajesh, CEO, Avtar Career Creators.

Avtar, which launched the I-win (Interim Women Managers' Interface Network) concept in Chennai a year ago and actively started consulting with companies about six months back, has 2,000 women on its database and has placed about 200 in interim jobs across sectors.

Retail, banking, BPO, financial services and IT sectors are all ready to take on interim employees in operations, customer service, HR, recruitment, budgeting and telesales, said Ms Saundarya. These women are willing to take a cut of 30-40 per cent on the current salary levels.

This employment style would bring several benefits to corporates: "This is an excellent method to manage attrition and keep costs low," says Ms Saundarya.
