Sensex crosses 14k intra-day

The BSE Sensex kissed the 14,000-mark intra-day before closing at 13,957.65 points, up 0.46 per cent, on strong FII inflows.

The Sensex opened at 14,028.47 points as Reliance Industries was traded at a high of Rs 1,350 in the morning session, said dealers. The stock closed at Rs 1,280, up 1.58 per cent.

"FIIs have shown major interest in the frontline stocks while domestic funds are buying mid- and small-cap stocks," said a dealer. FIIs were net buyers for Rs 302.42 crore, according to provisional figures on the NSE.

The overall market breadth was positive. The S&P CNX Nifty index gained 0.37 per cent to close at 4,015.75 points.
