Piling work at Vizag Steel Plant

Piling works in the wire rod mill-2 area began on Monday in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, as a part of the Rs 8,692-crore expansion plan. The capacity of the mill will be increased from the present three million tonnes to 6.3 million tonnes. The Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Y. Sivasagara Rao, inaugurated the piling work, the first of the major civil engineering works, awarded to Vijay Nirman Company, at a value of Rs 5.29 crore. The work will be completed in eight months, which will pave the way for further structural and equipment works in the wire rod mill-2 with an annual capacity of 6 lakh tonnes.
