Telecommunications Government - Policy Yahoo gets nod for multimedia content Our Bureau
New Delhi , Nov. 6 The Government has given its approval to Yahoo Inc to provide additional infotainment and multimedia content services on telecom networks and devices. Yahoo, which started as an Internet service provider, has globally made big plans for boosting its presence in the content services market, especially on mobile networks. The company is already offering mobile content and messaging based services through a tie up with a number of mobile operators in India. The new approval will allow the company to offer more such services. Yahoo had sough the approval of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board for offering infotainment and multimedia content, two aspects which are going be the biggest drivers of broadband services.
