Hyderabad , Oct. 30

Motorola today announced the establishment of an R&D centre in Hyderabad that would help the company consolidate its intellectual property development and research operations out of India.

Mr Edward J. Zandar, Chairman and CEO, on his maiden visit to Hyderabad, inaugurated the facility and said that the new R&D centre for Motorola Software Group (MSG) is a testimony of commitment to and confidence in Indian development teams.

Motorola opened its first R&D centre in Bangalore in 1991 and has grown significantly in India.

About 40 per cent of the software used in Motorola phones globally is developed by MSG's India design centres.

INVITATION

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, invited the company to consider locating a manufacturing base in the State and assured all necessary support.

Though the company itself did not disclose the amount invested, Motorola has invested about Rs 60 crore in the Hitech City facility built on 2.3 acres.
