Aviation sector on `cautious' radar

A drop in crude price notwithstanding, market outlook on the aviation sector is cautious. Analysts maintain that benefits accruing from any reduction in ATF prices may be neutralised by the intense price competition among the industry players.

Currently, all the players have imposed a price surcharge to cover past hikes in ATF prices. ATF prices have come down by almost 8 per cent for October on the back of declining crude prices.

So far, none of the airlines have reduced surcharge given that business has not been growing, said analysts. The stock of Jet Airways ended at Rs 628.25, down 2.5 per cent on the BSE while SpiceJet ended at Rs 45.55, down 3.5 per cent on the BSE.
