Consumerism Info-Tech - Broadband Industry & Economy - Regulatory Bodies & Rulings Compensation for delay in broadband connection Our Bureau
New Delhi , Oct. 6 In a bid to improve the quality of broadband services, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today mandated monetary compensation to consumers for any delays caused by the service providers in correcting faults or providing connections after taking an upfront deposit. In all cases where payment towards installation charge and security deposit is taken and the broadband connection is not provided within 15 working days, a credit at the rate of Rs 10 per day will be given to the customer. In case of correcting faults or repairs, TRAI has said that operators should take steps within 3 working days. If pending faults are not attended for three working days the operator will have to pay a rebate equivalent to seven days of minimum monthly charge.
