ITC seeks land to set up hotel in Haldia

Our Bureau

Kolkata , Sept. 27

The West Bengal Chief Minister Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Wednesday said that ITC Ltd has sought land in Haldia to set up a hotel. The Chief Minister was addressing a news conference in connection with the setting up of a petroleum, chemicals and petrochemicals industrial region (PCPIR) in Haldia.

Though Mr Bhattacharjee did not clarify whether the proposed hotel would be a part of the ITC Welcom group chain or budget properties promoted by Fortune Park Hotels, a wholly owned subsidiary of the ITC Group.

On the other investment proposals in the region, he said that a well-known US-based silicon chip manufacturer was expected to firm up its investment plans in Haldia by next month. The proposed facility is estimated to cost nearly Rs 2,000 crore. The company's products would be used for manufacturing solar panels.
