Web site for DoT, BSNL pensioners

The Controller of Communications Accounts Tamil Nadu Circle (CCA TN) has launched a Web site for pensioners of the Department of Telecom and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). Named www.ccatn.gov.in, the site will give details on tentative retirement benefits, balance of general provident fund accounts, current rate of pension and dearness allowance besides a provision to download all forms prescribed in the Pension Rules. The interactive site has minimum graphics and can be run by machines having Pentium 2 and Pentium 3 processors too, said Mr G. Alagarsamy, Controller of Communications Accounts Tamil Nadu Circle.

CCA TN has plans to allow paying of pension through the Electronic Clearing System (ECS) route. It is understood that CCA TN will launch a financial package (details were not disclosed). Tamil language pension bulletins would be released soon, said Mr Alagarsamy.

During 2005-06, about Rs 51 crore was released to service providers like BSNL and Reliance Infocomm Ltd under the Universal Service Obligation. About Rs 758 crore was collected as spectrum and license fee from all telecom service providers (basic and cellular) operating in the Tamil Nadu licensing area, said a release.
