Kolkata , Aug. 28 Justice Pranab Kumar Chattopadhyay of Calcutta High Court on Monday directed the State Information Commissioner to supply information to the cultivators of Singur in Hooghly district of West Bengal, who have sought certain information from the State Government. Food Fast Information & Network (FFIN), an association constituted by the cultivators, moved a writ petition in the High Court seeking to know how much land was going to be acquired for the purpose of opening a unit to manufacture small cars (Tata Motors' project for small cars). What would be the amount of compensation and how long will it take for disbursement of compensation money, along with other questions, were the moot queries. The petitioner alleged that the State Government had no infrastructure for supplying such information. The Advocate General, appearing for the State, said that all details on whose land would be acquired have already been supplied. While passing the said order, the court directed the Government to file affidavit within four weeks, indicating that the matter will be heard in November. However, at the instance of the petitioners, the court deleted the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation and Tata Motors, who were named as parties in the writ petition.
