To foray into infrastructure management

Hyderabad , Aug. 7

Business process outsourcing services provider Sitel India is bullish on its India operations and plans to add about 3,000 people this year, doubling its headcount across three locations. It is likely to set up another centre too.

The company, part of the $1.4 billion Sitel Corporation, has also doubled its India headcount in the last year. It inducted about 1000 people in the Hyderabad centre, barely within six months of commencing operations.

The Chief Executive Officer of Sitel India, Mr Safir Adeni, said that the company, a joint venture of Sitel Corporation and the Tata group, has expanded the nature and scope of its operations in India and now plans to foray into infrastructure management services (IMS).

Referring to the Hyderabad centre, Mr Adeni said it now supported six Fortune 500 clients providing contact centre and back-office services to customers in the areas of banking financial services and insurance, telecom, consumer electronics and travel.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Adeni said, "Sitel India has invested about Rs 30 crore in Hyderabad centre so far and expects to invest Rs 10 crore during the year. We are in the process of expanding the services offerings that include knowledge process outsourcing and infrastructure management, that could also mean setting up a data centre."

`Rapid growth'

"While the three India centres are growing at a rapid pace, the rate at which we have moved on at Hyderabad is significant. Apart from growth in numbers, we have delivered projects much faster than some of the other centres. This, coupled with new delivery processes, has opened up new opportunities", he said.

`Attrition check'

On the issue of attrition, Mr Adeni said, "against the industry average, we have managed to bring it down both at the high-end tech services as also BPO operations ."

As a part of celebrations in India, Sitel India hosted Splash that stands for Sitel Presentation for Leadership Awards and Special Honours that recognises and awards talent.
