ISO 9000 certification for Ministry unit

The Office of Aid Accounts and Audit Division in the Department of Economic Affairs of the Finance Ministry has obtained ISO 9001:2000 certification on `disbursal of external aid, accounting and debt servicing' to optimise efficiency and output. An official release said that this office is amongst a very few accounts offices in the country to have obtained ISO standards. This project, spread over last two years, was funded by the Asian Development Bank's technical assistance. The process entailed benchmarking of best practices and streamlining of workflows embracing all facets and activities for disbursement, claim processing, debt servicing as also enhancing IT enabled process for capacity building.
