New Delhi , June 26

Hero Honda Motors Ltd on Monday introduced its first motorcycle with fuel injection technology. The technology is being utilised in Hero Honda's existing 125 cc Glamour model. The 125 cc Glamour FI model is available in two variants with the base model priced at Rs 49,990 and the premium model with disk brakes at Rs 53,990 ex-showroom Delhi, the company said.

The company said that it would gradually introduce the fuel injection technology on its other motorcycle models. "We have already dispatched the bikes to 180 dealers across 67 towns," Hero Honda Motors, Managing Director, Mr Pawan Munjal said.

When asked about sales targets, Mr Munjal said, "Since the bike is priced slightly higher than the existing models, the company is not expecting this to be a volume driver. Hence, we have not set any specific sales targets."

Mr Munjal also said that there were no plans to phase out the carburettor-technology bikes. Currently, the company imports the basic electronic component for the new bikes from Japan. Mr Munjal said the company was working towards indigenising it "as and when the volumes allow."

While speaking on the effect of increasing raw material costs on the company's margins, Mr Munjal said though there was pressure on margins, the company was not contemplating raising prices anytime soon.
