Legislation for quota in pvt sector?

Our Bureau

New Delhi, May 22

The Government would be forced to bring in legislation for reservation in private sector, if the sector does not provide reservation for weaker sections of the society on a voluntary basis, the Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ms Meira Kumar, said here on Monday.

Referring to the two-year time frame given in UPA's Common Minimum Programme for providing reservation in private sectors, she said some more time could be given to them for taking steps in this direction. "But, at the end if they don't do it voluntarily, the Government would be compelled to bring in a legislation to enforce reservation in private sectors," she told reporters here.
