EMC Corporation has opened offices in Kolkata and Chennai to tap the mid-tier market for storage.

According to a study by Access Market International (AMI), there are nearly 7.6 million small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) in India.

Of these SMBs, medium-sized businesses are expected to spend $7.7 billion to beef up their IT infrastructure, up 26 per cent from last year.

EMC India estimates that their information solution needs are growing at more than 150 per cent annually.

The company, while launching 12 new hardware and software products, has also announced the strengthening of its channel partner program and the opening of two customer support and logistics centres in Chennai and Hyderabad.
