Bangalore , May 19 The new offering of cash acceptor and cheque processor technology offered by NCR Corporation is expected to be adopted by banks soon. The real-time intelligent transaction system that would extend bank customers using ATM instant crediting facility of cash deposit along with other online transaction facilities is currently being evaluated by banks for acceptability. An internal pilot had already been run and NCR hopes that banks will take a decision soon, said Mr Geet Lulla, Country Manager-Sales (Financial Solutions). The new automated module can accept cash and cheque directly without having to follow the current procedures of filling in the details of the amount and the denomination of cash and the details of cheques. The module created with the application software developed by NCR then validates the total value of the authenticated cash for immediate crediting into the account of the depositor. A receipt is also issued by the ATM giving all the details of the notes deposited. In the case of cheque deposit, the ATM displays a scanned image of the cheque for authentication by the depositor. The innovative NCR intelligent deposits solution allows banks to leverage the latest ATM technology to automate teller transactions in a more cost-effective manner, said Mr Lulla. NCR has also introduced real-time airline reservation through ATM. It has developed software application - Aptra - that enables customers to access flight schedules, select destination,dates of travel and other details.
