Captains of industry and chambers of commerce have described the massive victory of the Left Front as a "mandate for performance."
Hailing the record win, the business fraternity now expects bold policy measures from the Front to unleash the next phase of growth in the State. Mr Sanjiv Goenka, Vice-Chairman of RPG Enterprises, said that this was a clear mandate for the "performance-oriented, do it now, make it happen" policies of the Left Front administration in West Bengal under the "dynamic" Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
Mr Hemant Kanoria, Managing Director of Srei International Finance, said that such a large mandate should now reflect itself in some positive developments on the infrastructure front.
Expecting some of the ongoing projects to pick up speed, he said that such faith expressed by the people was good for the State, which should do well on the economic front.
Mr S.K. Bangur, President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), said that the outstanding success was a reflection of the people's confidence in the economic progress spearheaded by Mr Bhattacharjee and his team.
