Global boost for local gold, silver

Mumbai , April 20

Precious metals prices shot up on the local bullion market on Thursday following strong overseas market supported by local buying interest.

Silver (.999 fineness) was up Rs 1,115 at Rs 22,950 per kg over previous close. Pure gold prices were up Rs 290 at Rs 9,560 per 10 gm. Standard mint prices were up Rs 285 at Rs 9,500 per 10 gm.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 21,820; retail silver (per gm): Rs 23.35; Standard gold: Rs 9,580; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 887.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 22,600; Gold ready: Rs 9,695.
