Suzuki Motorcycle to expand footprint

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, April 11

Suzuki Motorcycle India is poised to expand its India footprint taking its dealer network to 70 and has also identified about 300 points of presence in towns to expand its marketing efforts. The Operation Head, Mr Shigeru Matsuda, said the company had targeted to sell about one lakh vehicles in the country by the year-end and plans to eventually take this number to five lakh. The Indian motorcycle market is growing at a compounded annual growth rate of about 10 per cent and is poised to grow from 6.5 million now to about 10 million by 2010. Mr Matsuda inaugurated two showrooms here — that of Saboo Marketing and Dobro Motors, which would initially market two of its offerings — Heat and Zeus, both in the 125 cc segment. The motorcycle market is witnessing a shift from 100 cc bike segment to 125 cc wherein these two options are just right, he said. — Our Bureau
