Letters IT woes
Most commentators are taking the IT industry to task for demanding better infrastructure from the Karnataka Government. The criticism is that rural areas, more than IT, need the Government's attention and resources. While the intention behind the criticism may be noble, the criticism itself lacks logic. Enlightened self-interest will further democracy and is part and parcel of a free market. Competing demands of various sections need to be placed before the Government, which can then prioritise. To ask a section of the economy to not voice its legitimate grievances is not meaningful. Particularly, in this case, the IT industry is probably ready to contribute monetarily and all they are seeking is some meaningful managerial intervention from the Government. Suresh Krishnamurthy
