ACC March production rises

Mumbai, April 3

Associated Cement Companies Ltd (ACC) said it produced 1.739 million tonnes (mt) of cement in March 2006 against 1.576 mt produced in March of 2005.

Despatches during March 2006 stood at 1.746 mt as compared to 1.572 mt in the year-ago period.

For the period January - March 2006, ACC produced and sold 4.928 mt of cement against production of 4.446 mt and sales of 4.449 mt in the year-ago period.

Cement production and despatches in March 2006 are the highest ever achieved in any month by the company as a group.

ACC's cement despatches crossed 17.94 mt during the year, which is also an all-time record for the group.

The Aditya Birla Group's cement production for March increased by 12.72 per cent at 2.853 mt while despatches rose by 10.87 per cent to 2.86 mt.

The Group's cement production for the fiscal was 28.581 mt higher by 8.78 per cent. Despatches stood at 28.585 mt, up by 8.85 per cent from the previous fiscal.
