Events Reliance Life to host international stem cell meet Our Bureau
Mumbai , Feb. 13 RELIANCE Life Sciences is holding an international symposium on stem cells and regenerative medicine here on February 27 and 28. Mr Kapil Sibal, Union Minister of Science and Technology and Ocean Development, will inaugurate the symposium and Mr Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Ltd will deliver the keynote address. According to a release from Reliance, the symposium is being held in association with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and will address areas such as science, technology development, clinical challenges and regulatory issues pertaining to stem cell-based therapies and regenerative medicine. Eminent scientists, clinicians and policy makers from national and international organisations are to speak on topics ranging from human embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, stem cell banking, cell-based therapies, autologous transplantation to regulatory aspects. A week-long workshop on culture, maintenance and characterisation of embryonic stem cells will precede the symposium (February 20 to 25). Mr Ambani was quoted in the release as saying, "Reliance Life Sciences has taken a comprehensive and long-term perspective in stem cell research, by working on a range of stem cell therapies that are integrated from repositories, research and manufacturing to clinical practice."
