Outlook Hyundai targets 20% growth, to hike `Getz' price Our Bureau
New Delhi , Jan. 20 HYUNDAI Motor India is targeting a 20 per cent growth in volume in the current year. The company is also planning to launch a new sedan, Verna, in 2006. According to Mr B.V.R. Subbu, President, Hyundai Motor India, the car will be positioned between the Accent and the Elantra. The sedan is likely to be launched around July-September and will share the production line with the Accent. The company may also launch two premium vehicles (through the CBU route) that are currently on display at its roadshow. The cars include the super luxury sedan Azera and sports coupe Tuscani. Mr Subbu further said that the company would raise the prices of its premium hatchback model `Getz' by the end of this month. "We cannot postpone the hike in the prices of our production models. So we will be hiking the price of Getz by the end of this month," he said on the sidelines of a press conference announcing the launch of a year-long project of Student Traffic Volunteers Scholarship Scheme (STVS) called `Hyundai Traffic Squad' to create road safety awareness and support Delhi Traffic Police in improving the Traffic Management System in Delhi. The company, however, is yet to determine the quantum of price hike. Hyundai has already raised the prices of its flagship car `Santro' and midsize `Accent' due to increase in input and freight costs.
