Hybrid technology

This is with reference to, "Honda Siel sees potential for hybrid cars in India," (Business Line, January 12). Hybrid technology must be made mandatory for India's two-wheeler and four-wheelers. In California, for instance, Toyota Hybrid Prius (http://www.toyota.com/prius/) is a very popular car because it is non-polluting and environmentally safe. Auto manufacturers must be given incentives to build environment-friendly cars using energy-efficient technology.

Hybrid technology is a golden chance for our planners to improve the air quality. The Government should give incentives to promote hybrid technology. This will not only create new jobs but also spare our cities of air pollution.
