Rubber Spot rubber gains on bullish global trend Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Jan. 11 GUIDED by the firm international trend, the domestic rubber market recorded all-round gains on Wednesday. Covering purchases at lower levels helped the spot prices to improve marginally though major manufacturers continued to stay inactive. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 70.75 from Rs 70.50 a kg at Kottayam. The grade remained unchanged at Rs 70.75 a kg at Kochi. The rubber futures were also firm in NMCE quoting the January contract at Rs 72.21 (Rs 72.06), February contract at Rs 73.40 (Rs 73.29), March contract at Rs 74.92 (Rs 74.91) and April contract at Rs 76.40 (Rs 76.42 ) per kg for RSS 4. The trading volumes till noon totalled 674 lots with 76 lots in January, 316 lots in February, 241 lots in March and 41 lots in April. At TOCOM, the February futures improved to 211.5 yen (Rs 81.18 ) from 208.8 yen a kg for RSS 3. The grade closed at Rs 78.53 against Rs 78.03 at Bangkok spot. Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 70.75 (Rs 70.50); RSS-5: Rs 69.25 (Rs 69.00); ungraded: Rs 67.75 (Rs 67.50); ISNR 20: Rs 69.00 (Rs 68.75) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 50.50 (Rs 50).
