`Bills on pension, insurance reforms in Budget session'

THE Centre will introduce bills to bring in reforms in the pension and insurance sector reforms in the ensuing Budget session of Parliament, the Union Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, said here on Saturday.

The UPA Government willalso bring in changes in the RBI Act, the Banking Act and the Act on Nationalisation of Banks to create a growth-oriented environment in the banking sector, and pilot them in the sessions, he told a special session at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

Mr Chidambaram, who formally launched the universal intergrated electronics remittances gateway, facilitating remittances by overseas Indians, expressed confidence in the continuing growth of the economy and urged NRIs to play a major role in investments.
