Fringe Benefit Tax

This refers to the report "FBT blow to industry may be softened" (Business Line, December 24). Fringe benefits are given mostly as incentives. And the tax will affect the industry and employees.

Any tax system should be as simple as possible. Instead of complicating the FBT more, it may be better to scrap it.

And instead of squeezing the tax-complying salaried class more and more, the government should concentrate on evaders and take serious steps to curtail black money.
