Mumbai , Dec. 29

THE Wockhardt Hospitals group in India has established a formal agreement with Philadelphia-based CIGNA Insurance to accept direct payments from the insurer for CIGNA International Expatriate Benefits (CIEB) health plans.

CIGNA covers 32 million people in the US through its health plans.

Through this alliance, CIGNA's expatriate members and its covered international travellers will have access to medical treatment at any of the Wockhardt Group hospitals across India on a cashless system with direct payments and guarantee of payment from CIEB. The members can access all in-patient facilities at Wockhardt Hospitals including specialised surgeries in cardiology, orthopaedics and neurosurgery, besides emergency care.

In a press release, Mr Vishal Bali, Vice-President, Wockhardt Hospitals Group, said: "In a globally changing healthcare world, alliances of this nature are significant for international patients to access quality healthcare services in India."

CIEB is the world's largest provider of employer-sponsored insurance plans for expatriate employees and their insured family members.

The Wockhardt Hospitals Group operates six super-speciality hospitals across India. .
