Thermax in pact with Heavy Water Board for ammonia injection tech

Our Bureau

Pune , Dec. 27

THE Pune-based Thermax Ltd has signed a licensing agreement with the Heavy Water Board (HWB) of Department of Atomic Energy for the board's proprietary ammonia injection technology to control particulate emission in the flue gases from thermal power stations and integrated power plants.

Under the terms of the agreement, HWB will license Thermax (Enviro Division) the use of this technology in its electrostatic precipitators, which are used in coal-based power plants for pollution abatement.

The application of this technology will enable Thermax to reduce emissions even further - well below the Pollution Control Board's stringent norms.

HWB, on its part, will provide technical support and consultative guidance on the technology.

This proven flue gas conditioning technology is especially suited for Indian coals and provides a cost-effective option for power plants to meet stringent clean air standards.

The agreement was signed by Mr S.C. Hiremath, Chairman and Chief Executive of HWB, and Mr Prakash Kulkarni, Managing Director of Thermax.
