Organisation to improve energy efficiency formed

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Dec. 27

MORE than a dozen companies involved in the alternative energy sector have come together to float an independent association to strive for improving energy efficiency.

Calling themselves the Indian Council for Promotion of Energy Efficiency Business (ICPEEB), they intend to work towards enhancing energy security through conservation strategies.

Some of the founding member companies include Honeywell Ltd, Pune; DSCL Energy Services Company Ltd, New Delhi; Asian Electronics Ltd, New Delhi; Aqua Engineering, Mumbai; Agni Energy and Shri Shakti Alternative Energy from Hyderabad; and Petroleum Conservation Research Association, Delhi.

The ICPEEB plans to promote a professional association of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), energy auditors, energy managers and other stakeholders in the sector such as equipment vendors, banks and financial institutions.

According to Mr Satya Kumar of Shri Shakti Alternative Energy, Hyderabad, the Association would also foster the demand and growth of energy efficiency business and energy performance contracting services in India. It would also act as a platform for exploiting the recognised market potential of ESCOs for energy efficiency improvements both in public and private sectors.
