The Hindu Business Line : Kingfisher Airlines extends special fares for Govt staff

KINGFISHER Airlines has announced special fares for all personnel serving in the Indian Armed Forces, the Union Government, State governments, and employees of all public sector units in the country.

The immediate families of these personnel - parents, spouses and dependent children - are also eligible for these reduced and special fares. These fares are available to all destinations served by Kingfisher Airlines.

The special fares are based on flight duration and start at Rs 1,999 for all sectors that are of one-hour duration or less. For sectors where the flight duration is more than one hour but less then two hours, the applicable special fare will be Rs 2,999, while for sectors where the flight duration is more than two hours, the special fare will be Rs 3,999. Airport taxes of Rs 221 per ticket are applicable on all ticket sales.

An official statement quoting Mr Manoj Chacko, General Manager, Sales, Kingfisher Airlines said, "The members of our armed forces and their families continue to demonstrate courage, commitment and great sacrifice on behalf of their country and fellow citizens. Similarly, members of government departments around the country perform a thankless task. Kingfisher Airlines is pleased to extend these special fares in admiration and appreciation for all they are doing."

These special and reduced fares are valid for booking and travel from now to March 31, 2006. Passengers buying these special fares would have to present their valid Government of India identity cards at the city/airport offices of Kingfisher Airlines to make the booking.

Kingfisher Airlines now operates 56 flights daily connecting 13 key Indian cities. The airline is also the first Indian carrier to have placed an order for five Airbus super jumbo A380s along with five A350s and five A330s.

Kingfisher Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Breweries Holdings Ltd, the UB Group's investments holding company.
