Kolkata trade fair from Dec 21

THE 10-day 19th industrial trade fair will begin on December 21 highlighting the locational advantage of West Bengal in doing business with South-East Asian countries. Altogether 10 countries, including Singapore as a focus country, have agreed to participate in the fair.

Being organised by the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI) jointly with the State Government and India Trade Promotion Organisation, the fair will have `SME Sector' as a theme. A 125-member business delegation from the Singapore India Chamber of Commerce will participate the inaugural function.

Among the participating countries, Afghanistan and Egypt will be participating such a fair in the city for the first time.

Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Turkey, and China have said that they will participate. The fair committee expects some participation from Vietnam and Indonesia, while a total 37 countries are expected to participate through catalogues.

The Chairman of the fair committee, Mr S.K. Ghosh, told newspersons that the chamber has plans to make the fair a multidimensional trade event
