Hyderabad , Dec. 12

AUROBINDO Pharma Ltd has announced that the World Health Organisation, Geneva has included one more of its products — Nevirapine 200 mg tablets — in its pre-qualification list.

This is the company's fourth product to be included in the list. The other products are Zidovudine tablets 300 mg, Lamivudine tablets 150 mg and Lamivudine tablets 300 mg.

Nevirapine is a key anti-retroviral drug in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.

According to the company, the non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors drug helps keep the AIDS virus from replicating. It is used in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection.

The global fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria disburses money for medicines that have been pre-qualified by the WHO, the company said.
