ECL posts profit in Nov

KOLKATA: Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL), a loss-making subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has turned around with a profit of about Rs 37 crore (provisional) in November 2005 against the loss of Rs 2.64 crore during the same month last year.

Progressive loss during April-November of the current fiscal came down to about Rs 146 crore against a progressive loss of about Rs 251 crore during the same period last year.

The sales realisation during the last month under review was about Rs 351 crore against the billed amount of about Rs 390 crore, while the progressive sales realisation during April-November in the current fiscal was about Rs 2,768 crore against the billed amount of about Rs 2,715 crore.

The company claimed to have achieved the highest level of production and removed over burden during April-November, 2005 since its inception.
