MADURAI: THE Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to the Chief Minister that while estimating the flood damage, the loss sustained by small businessmen and manufacturers should also be taken into account and appropriate solatium should be provided to them.

Leaders of all the political parties in the State must support this demand and the Central Government should lend a helping hand. The chamber has requested all the affected small traders and industrialists in the State to forward their demand for help with the details of damages to the respective District Collectors and to the State Government.

In a statement here, the chamber president, Mr S. Rethinavelu, has said that thousands of small and petty traders and small units in several districts in the State have been affected by the rains and floods. The chamber has been receiving innumerable requests from different parts of the State from such severely affected small traders seeking assistance and solatium, he added.
