Announcements Ranbaxy exporting Tamiflu Our Bureau
NEW DELHI: Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd is exporting small quantities of the generic version of the bird-flu drug Tamiflu to a Southeast Asian country even as it is negotiating with Roche Holding for a licence. "All I can tell you is that we are exporting the medicine to a non-regulated country in Southeast Asia," said Mr Malvinder Mohan Singh, President, Ranbaxy. He, however, did not divulge the name of the country. Mr Singh said that if it gets a licence from Roche, the company would be able to scale up commercial production and market the drug in the second quarter of 2006. Meanwhile, NPIL, too said it is in talks with Roche for Tamiflu. "We have begun discussions with Roche. It is too early to say anything else," said Mr Piramal.
