Marginal decline in rubber

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Nov. 26

RUBBER prices declined marginally on Saturday as most of the buyers were rather inactive. The only grade, which ruled steady, was RSS 4 that remained unchanged at Rs 65 a kg at Kottayam on moderate covering purchases but the grade declined by 50 paise to Rs 64.50 a kg at Kochi lacking fresh demand.

According to observers, absence of export buying was the key factor behind the dull weekend closing.

The rubber futures were reported to be almost steady with minor variations on NMCE. The December contract closed at Rs 65.27 (65.42), January contract at Rs 65.59 (65.50), February contract at Rs 66.57 (66.40) and March contract at Rs 67.44 (67.15) per kg for RSS 4. December contract for RSS4 ended slightly weak at Rs 64.80 against Rs 65.18 a kg on MCX.

Spot rubber prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 65 (65); RSS-5: Rs 62.75 (63); ungraded: Rs 60.50 (61); ISNR 20: Rs 63.25 (64); and latex 60 per cent; Rs 43.50 (43.50).
