`Think a little different from the ordinary'

Our Bureau

Salem , Nov. 18

ASPIRATION, ability to perform, readiness to act, choosing right direction and effective communication are the keys to success, according to Salem-based human resources training consultant, Mr M.K. Laxman.

At a workshop on `Managerial skills' organised by the Sona School of Management and the Business Line Club here, he asked the students to think slightly different from others.

"As a leader, your perception of the happenings around you should be little different from the ordinary.

"This will lead to creative and innovating thinking, which is necessary to remain successful," he said.

The corporate world was expecting its prospective employees to be effective and able to deliver desired results.

Experience alone would not be the norm for recruitment.

The expertise of a person in a particular field was the most preferred quality while selecting candidates, he said.

Mr Laxman conducted a psychometric analysis to identify the personality of an individual through Myers Briggs Type Indicators.

Based on the results, he suggested a few methods to the students to overcome their weaknesses.

Students also participated in the individual and group decision-making exercises.
