New Delhi , Nov. 14

MOTOROLA on Monday announced a strategic alliance with Bharti Teletech to use the latter's network of 250 distributors and over 11,000 retailers in the country, for selling its handsets and accessories.

"Bharti Teletech's access to the rural market is a perfect match for Motorola's efforts to connect the unconnected by providing handsets such as the new `C113a' suited to mass market users.

"Their broad distribution to urban cities also allows Motorola to reach the growing population of professionals eager for the latest high-end handsets including RAZR V3," Mr Allen Burnes, Corporate Vice-President, High Growth markets, Mobile Devices Business, Motorola, said at a press conference here. Commenting on the alliance, Mr Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Teletech, said, "The alliance helps us further widen our product portfolio and also leverage economies of scale. Our understanding of the Indian market, a strong brand presence, distribution reach across India, and experience of marketing products to Indian consumers should be a perfect match for Motorola's growth strategy in India."

Bharti Teletech, a part of Bharti Group, is a telephone instrument manufacturing company and has manufacturing operations spread across ISO-9000 certified plants in Mapusa (Goa) and Ludhiana (Punjab) with an installed capacity of 6 million telephone units, annually upgradable to 10 million units.
