Events Indian cos must emerge as strong multinationals, say industry leaders Our Bureau
Bangalore , Nov. 13 As the corporates began their quest to become multinationals, India should build and strengthen its competitiveness to be on par with developed countries, said said industry leaders at the 13th Quality Summit organised by the CII Institute of Quality here on Saturday. They pointed out that companies should choose a position on the value chain, by leveraging the advantages of the country and the cluster concept and forging ties to emerge as strong MNCs. Mr Ravi Uppal, Regional Head, South Asia, ABB and Vice-Chairman of CII (Southern Region) said, "The future looks very bright and we are in a great position to benefit from economic activity that is shifting to Asia. Asia is becoming the new centre of consumption and outsourcing. The man-made barriers are disappearing. In this whole exercise, we have to learn from each other and share knowledge globally." Mr Kiyomichi Ito, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts Ltd, said the company has been built on its global business model to maintain and improve quality standards, including pricing and timely delivery across the globe. "We have set quality systems in each and every department, so that the entire organisation works in synergy." Mr Subroto Bagchi, Chief Operating Officer, MindTree Consulting Pvt Ltd, said MindTree became a $100-million company within six years of existence. "Companies that have an impact on the country, the customers and the bottom line are true winners," he said.
