The Hindu Business Line : All India co-op week in Daskshina Kannada dt

THE Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Union Ltd has chalked out various programmes to commemorate the 52nd `All-India Cooperative Week' in the district from November 14 to 20.

Addressing presspersons here on recently, the President of the union, Mr P.B. Divakara Rai, said that the two major arecanut cooperative institutions in the district have agreed to open new branches during the cooperative week. The Mangalore Agriculturists' Souharda Sahakari (MASS) will begin the cooperative week celebrations by opening an arecanut purchase centre at Uppinangady in the district on November 14.

The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd will celebrate the week by opening an arecanut purchase centre at Killoor in Belthangady taluk of the district on November 16.

The Dakshina Kannada District Milk Producers Cooperative Union Ltd will celebrate the cooperative week by launching `butter packets' in the market on November 15, Mr Rai said.

The Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Union Ltd has also organised seminars on various topics, including one on `women empowerment through cooperative movement', during the cooperative week celebrations, he added.
