Awards & Honours Kumar Mangalam Birla is E&Y entrepreneur of the year Our Bureau
Mumbai , Nov 11 MR Kumar Mangalam Birla of the Aditya Birla group has been named the Ernst & Young (E&Y) Entrepreneur of the Year 2005. He will represent India at the awards function in Monte Carlo, Monaco, in June 2006. A release quoted Mr V.V. Ranganathan, E&Y's Country Leader for the Entrepreneur of the Year programme, as saying: "The process of nomination and selection is unique, robust, and standardised throughout the world." The E&Y Lifetime Achievement award has been conferred on Dr S.S. Badrinath of Sankara Netralaya. The Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year award has gone to Mr Rana Kapoor, founder and Managing Director of Yes Bank. Mr B.N. Kalyani of Bharat Forge has won the Manufacturing Category award. Mr Dilip Shanghavi of Sun Pharmaceutical has been named winner in the Healthcare and Life-sciences Category. Ms Shobhana Bhartiya of HT Media has bagged the award in the Information, Communications and Entertainment category. The Services Entrepreneur of the Year award has gone to Mr Harish Kumar Mittal of Mercator Lines. The release quoted Mr Rajiv Memani, CEO of E&Y India, as saying: "Each one of our winners has built business with immense passion, explored un-chartered territories, created jobs, and added vibrancy to the economy." The jury for choosing the winners was chaired by Mr Deepak S. Parekh, Chairman of HDFC Ltd. Mr N.K. Singh, Mr Naresh Chandra, Dr J. J. Irani, and Ms Mallika Srinivasan were the other jury members.
