Refinery technology meet in Hyderabad from Nov 14

THE Centre for High Technology (CHT) is organising another Refinery Technology Meet (RTM) in association with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) in Hyderabad from November 14-16.
The meet is being held to mark the 50th year celebration of BPCL, Mumbai refinery. The theme of the meet is "Maximising Hydrocarbon Value Chain".
The meet will discuss various aspects of global energy scenario, refining processes and opportunities with specific emphasis on value addition through refining process - optimisation, upgradation & integration.
Since the first meet in 1985, 12 RTMs have been organised, in association with Indian oil industries on various themes relevant to refining industry, by the CHT, under the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The CHT is the focal point for assessing futuristic technological requirements for acquisition, development and adoption in the area of refining processes, petroleum products & crude oil transportation, storage & handling.
BPCL's Mumbai refinery has completed 50 years of operation during 2004-05.
It has recently commissioned the hydrocracker unit, the last part of the Refinery Modernisation Project.
After stabilisation of this unit, the refinery would be able to process 12 million metric tonnes per annum of crude oil in this refinery, according to a BPCL release.
Professionals from oil refining and marketing companies, petrochemicals, gas processing and oil exploration, engineering professionals involved in the design, operation and technical services of hydrocarbon sector, process licensors, consultants, vendors, scientists, academicians and manufacturers in the field of hydrocarbon processing are taking part in the meet.
